The positioning and style of the new staircase is possibly the most important decision to getting the wow factor in your attic conversion. The new staircase will be the first thing seen when entering an attic conversion and will determine the layout of the new room. Ideally and when possible we will position the new stairs over the existing stairs as this has the least impact on the 1st floor layout and in many instances can even enhance the landing. The stairs should be as close as possible in dimensions to the existing stairs and if tied in correctly can look like an original part of the house design. The stairs should comfortably lead you to an area of the attic where you will be presented with the best aspect of your new room. There are some instances where this is not possible and an alternative solution needs to be found. We believe that our expertise in this area enables us to give you that best result.
We insulate all of our attics with the best N.S.A.I approved synthesia spracy polyurethane.
Your attic although well insulated will still need to be heated. The cheapest and most environmentally friendly way to heat your attic is to run the heating of your attic off your current boiler system by adding another radiator. In the majority of cases this is a simple process. There is however a few considerations that need to be taken into account and we always consult with our plumber to ensure that the system is suitable to take the extra loading. If the system is not suitable there are a number of other options available at a similar set up price including wiring for an electric heater on a timer switch.
In most cases there is the option of having an ensuite. The use of the room will often dictate whether an ensuite is necessary and what is required to be in it. As long as space is sufficient there are very few restrictions as to the design of the ensuite.
In all circumstances there is a variety of options available The most popular types are
